About AFFED

An international NGO based in Accra, Ghana, working at the intersection of education, human rights, and sustainable development.

Our Story

Africa for Education and Development (AFFED) was founded in Accra, Ghana, out of a conviction that lasting change on the continent begins with community-driven education and a seat at the tables where global policy is shaped. What started as grassroots advocacy work has grown into an internationally recognized organization, accredited by UN civil society networks and represented at more than twenty international conferences across four continents.

Today, AFFED operates across thirteen interconnected focus areas — from girl-child education and women’s empowerment to cybersecurity, climate resilience, and the fight against transnational organized crime. Our approach links local community programs in Ghana and across Africa to global advocacy platforms, ensuring that African voices and lived experience directly inform international policy on the issues that matter most to our communities.

We work alongside governments, UN agencies, civil society networks, and community partners to translate global commitments — including the Sustainable Development Goals — into tangible outcomes for the people we serve.

Our Mission

Africa for Education and Development is committed to empowering communities, protecting human rights, and driving sustainable development across Africa and the world through education, advocacy, and active participation in global policy dialogue.

Our Vision

A future in which every African community has equitable access to education, is protected by strong and accountable institutions, and participates fully in shaping the sustainable development of the continent and the world.
